International Buyers FAQ

Can foreign owners rent out their Miami property?

All questions

Yes. Foreign ownership does not restrict your right to lease the property. The constraints come from the same places they do for any owner: the condo association's rental policies, local rules on short-term rentals, and the lease terms your building or municipality permits. Those vary sharply building by building and city by city, so the rental strategy should be confirmed before you choose the property, not after.

The ownership side has a tax dimension: rental income earned by nonresident owners is subject to US tax rules with specific withholding and filing mechanics, and most foreign landlords make an election to be taxed on net income rather than gross. That is standard practice handled by a cross-border tax preparer.
